Own choice, up to 12 minutes including an unaccompanied piece and a piece by a Welsh composer. Both elements can be combined to include an unaccompanied piece by a Welsh composer. Choirs can also choose to perform an arrangement of a Welsh folk song by a Welsh composer
Prizes:
- Cwpan OR Owen (Owen Gele) to be held for a year. Hilda Morgan Memorial Medal to be held for a year to be presented to the conductor of the winning choir a £800 (Teulu Hendre, Pentyrch)
- £600 (Er cof am Eiry Jones, cyn-arweinydd Côr Crymych, gan ei gŵr Gary, a’r merched, Meinir a Delyth.)
- £400 (Ramoth, Capel y Bedyddwyr, Cwmfelin Mynach.)
Choirs cannot sing the same song in another choral competition during the Eisteddfod
