- Cadenza: Competitors are free to vary the cadenza or insert optional cadenza or high notes where usual, but the judges must be informed of the changes.
- Choirs:
- Membership: No one may sing in a choir without being a full member of that choir for two months immediately before the Eisteddfod, and no one may sing in more than one choir in the same choral category.
- Solo Parts: No choir is allowed to select pieces where soloists are given a prominent place. Songs of a style that uses a choir as 'backing singers' for a significant period should not be chosen.
- Timing: The performance is timed from the first note to the last note of each song in accordance with the requirements of the competition to include an unspecified number of songs with or without accompaniment. Choirs will be penalized for going over the time. A list of these penalties can be found in the General Rules and Conditions
- Rostra: A roster is provided by the Eisteddfod.
- Key: Only the edition and keynote specified are permitted in all competitions.
- Accompanists: Competitors must receive the service of an official Eisteddfod accompanist in all competitions with the exception of choirs, musical competitions and instrumental competitions. The Eisteddfod will try to secure the service of the same accompanist in the preliminary test and the final test.
- Welsh Composer's Interpretation: A person who was born in Wales, is of Welsh descent or has worked in Wales for at least one year.
- David Ellis Memorial Award: David Ellis Memorial Award: The judges will select up to three contestants from the over 25 vocal category to compete in the David Ellis Memorial Award competition. No one may enter more than one of the competitions in this category.
- Osborne Roberts Memorial Award: Osborne Roberts Memorial Award: The judges will select up to three contestants from the under 25 vocal category to compete in the Osborne Roberts Memorial Award competition. No one may enter more than one of the competitions in this category.
- Self-selection
- A competitor can choose a keynote in self-selected competitions, but that keynote must appear in a copy that has been published by a recognized company.
- Singing in any key is allowed in Canu Emyn | competitions A Song of Open Praise, a Solo from a Musical 19 and over and a Solo from a Musical under 19.
- A copy of each piece in the self-choice must be uploaded by 15 June, with the Welsh words set to the music.
- The vocal parts must be sung in Welsh. However, choirs are allowed to include one song without words in their program if they wish. The Welsh words for the set pieces will be placed on the registration pages of the relevant competitions on the Eisteddfod's website and any queries should be emailed to competition@eisteddfod.cymru.
- The original self-selection piece may not be changed after 15 June.
- Scholarships: The same scholarship cannot be won more than once. The money offered in each scholarship is to be used to promote the individual's career, and winners are expected to prove to the Eisteddfod that the money has been spent on this. To claim the scholarship you must contact the Eisteddfod Office before the end of September of the current Eisteddfod year.
- Pitch: The International Standard Concert Pitch (A-440 Hz) is used in all vocal and instrumental competitions requiring a piano.
