The W Towyn Scholarship was etablished to promote classical music for soloists in Wales. The scholarship is awarded for the benefit of the competitors' further professional development in the industry.

How to compete?
By 1 May 2025
- Submit a self-tape (selftape) which contains 2 songs performed by the competitor during the last 6 months. Please contact cystadlu@eisteddfod.cymru for further guidance
- The programme must include 1 song by a Welsh composer
The Judging Panel will select and invite four competitors from among the applicants to appear in a final round during the Eisteddfod week.
If you make it to the final four, you will be expected to:
- Present a programme of up to 15 minutes which includes at least one song by a Welsh composer.
- The whole programme must be perofrmed in Welsh (Welsh translations are available on request via cystadlu@eisteddfod.cymru)
- There will be an element of mentoring when choosing a program and when preparing for the competition
Who is allowed to compete?
The competition is open to:
- any person born in Wales any person one of whose parents was born in Wales
- any person who lives or works in Wales for the 3 years before 31 August 2025
The panel of judges will have the right to decline awarding the scholarships or to divide between more than one competitor. See General Terms and Conditions. The Eisteddfod will also endevour to provide oppertunities and invite past Scholarship winners to perform at future Eisteddfods.
