The scholarship was established to promote classical music in Wales and to support the professional development of the competitor in the classical singing industry.
By 1 May 2025, you must:
- Register to compete via the Eisteddfod website.
- All competitors will be invited to an audition on the first Sunday of the Eisteddfod to present a programme of up to 15 minutes, which must include at least one song by a Welsh composer, and all songs should be sung in Welsh. Contact cystadlu@eisteddfod.cymru to confirm the availability of translations.
In addition:
- You must prepare a written statement of up to 200 words outlining the intended use of the Scholarship;
- After the competition results, all competitors will be invited to a workshop session at the Eisteddfod with members of the adjudication panel;
- Competitors are asked to upload a video (self-tape) of two songs only from the 15-minute programme before 15 June, and these will be the songs under consideration for the workshop session.
The competition is open to:
- Anyone born in Wales;
- Anyone born to a Welsh parent;
- Anyone who has lived or worked in Wales for three years before 31 August 2025
The Eisteddfod will provide an accompanist for this competition, but competitors have the right to use their own accompanists. The adjudication panel has the right to withhold or share the scholarships among more than one winner.
