Own choice, up to 12 minutes including an unaccompanied piece and a piece by a Welsh composer. The two elements can be combined to include an unaccompanied piece by a Welsh composer. Choirs can also choose to perform an arrangement of a Welsh folk song by a Welsh composer. Choirs will not be permitted to sing the same song in another category during the Eisteddfod.
Prizes:
- Cwpan y Daily Post to be held for a year. Twm Dwynant Memorial Medal to be held for a year to be presented to the conductor of the winning choir and £750 (Côr Philharmonic Caerdydd, i nodi bod y côr wedi cychwyn fel Côr Eisteddfod Caerdydd, 1978, wrth i’r côr ddod i ben)
- £500 (Eglwys Gymraeg Mynydd Seion, Casnewydd er cof am Anthony Gorton, aelod ffyddlon o’r capel a’r Orsedd. Cyfrannodd i ddiwylliant Cymru ar hyd ei oes. Roedd yn caru’r Gymraeg ac yn Eisteddfodwr brwd.)
