YMa, an arts centre in the former YMCA building in Pontypridd, under a blue sky

YMa is a place for culture, creativity and the arts in the centre of Pontypridd, just minutes from the Eisteddfod Maes in Ynysangharad Park. Their mission is to spark journeys of individual and collective creativity that unlock the potential in people and communities.

This dynamic and energetic centre is located in the old YMCA building, opened in 1910 on the high street. The building is operated by Artis Community Cymuned to present a new artistic vision in the town and area. People of all ages, backgrounds, cultures and experiences reflected in the community, are welcome, in a way that is accessible to all.

During the week, YMa is home to several of our dance semi-finals, the final of our popular acting a play or invented work competition and a wide range of theatrical performances.

With a combination of shows from local companies such as Theatrau RCT and the Awen Cultural Trust, and performances by national companies such as Theatr Genedlaethol Cymru and Theatr y Sherman, YMa is an excellent venue for artistic shows of all kinds.

Entry to YMa events is free with a Maes ticket wristband, or you can buy a ticket to the evening concerts on the door.
