Science and technology may not spring to mind when you first think about Welsh culture – but it should!
The Pentref Gwyddoniaeth a Thechnoleg (Science and Technology Village) has been an important part of Eisteddfod activities for over half a century. Our aim is to promote STEM, science, technology, engineering and maths through the medium of Welsh.
The exhibitions have been popular and varied over the years - this is where we broke the Guinness World Record for the longest model of chicken DNA, and we’ve also had sessions with people walking through custard as part of scientific experiments!
This year’s no different, with a fantastic mix of wild and wonderful events for children and more formal talks and sessions for adults.
We’re also celebrating twenty years of the Science and Technology Medal this year.
The Medal is presented to an individual who’s raise the profile or status of Welsh-medium science or technology. We’ll get to meet this year’s winner on the Maes on Thursday.
