Rhondda Cynon Taf Music Service are proud to present their harp students performing arrangements by Meinir Heulyn, a renowned harpist from the area, including traditional Welsh airs.
Meinir was the principal harpist of Welsh National Opera Orchestra for 30 years and was head of the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama’s harp department for many years. Pontypridd was her hometown until fairly recently.
The students are mostly between Grade 2 and 5 standard and many come from the secondary schools of Rhondda Cynon Taf, with the majority receiving lessons through the Music Service.
They will perform a medley and eight duets by Meinir Heulyn chosen from her books ‘O’r Dechrau’ and ‘Harp Duos: Volume 1’. They will be performing traditional Welsh material, including ‘Twll Bach y Clo, ‘Llwyn Onn’, ‘Cysga Di’ and ‘Morio’
