The final competition will be held in a dedicated center during the week of the Eisteddfod. The semi-final must be held before the end of June 2026 where the adjudicators will choose 3 productions to appear in the final round.

- Step 1: You must register to compete online by 1 April via the Eisteddfod website. A copy of the script as it is intended to be performed or a detailed sketch of the presentation should be uploaded if it is an invented work.
- Step 2: The adjudocators will visit the companies to select 3 to compete at the Eisteddfod to perform in a final round. Alternatively, a recording of the Play or Invented Work can be submitted if it is not possible for the judges to visit the company before the end of June (please contact cystadlu@eisteddfod.cymru for further guidance and directions). The semi-final round must take place by the end of June.
- Step 3: The final will be held on a specific day during the week of the Eisteddfod. Any company that has been selected for the final test, but withdraws without sufficient reason, must notify the Eisteddfod office at least one month before the day of the competition. The adjudicators will deliver and oral and written critque at the end of the final round.
Rules and Conditions
- If performing a play, the play must be either a complete one-act play or a selection from a long play or an invented work;
- No introduction to the play, by speech or printed summary, is permitted;
- The performance should not be less than 20 minutes long or longer than 50 minutes. 'Performance time' includes any time required to change a scene during a performance;
- 10 minutes are allowed to set up the stage and 5 minutes to clear the stage;
- The companies must secure the right to perform, and a copy of the licence must be uploaded with the application form. Travel costs will be shared towards the invited companies during the week of the Eisteddfod. See the 'Travel Grants' conditions in the General Rules and Conditions.
- Up to six radio mic will be provided to each theatre company to be used for their perfomance
