Red sign in temporary building with the words The Art Place (Y Lle Celf) in white capitals

Our Pentref Celf is home to exhibitors and artists next to our contemporary art gallery, Y Lle Celf.

Come and explore the stalls and have a go at some of the informal activities organised by our artists.

Y Lle Celf is the Eisteddfod’s national art gallery on the Maes for one week every year, with an open exhibition of work chosen by a team of selectors, including work by established and well known artists as well as new work by up and coming artists starting their careers here in Wales.

We award a gold medal for fine art, a gold medal for craft and design and a gold medal for architecture every year and the winning work forms part of the exhibition here in Y Lle Celf.

Some of our previous winners have been well-known names here in Wales.  Bedwyr Williams, is a past winner of the gold medal for fine art, as are Elfyn Lewis and Ceri Richards.  The craft and design gold medal has been won by artists like Ann Catrin Evans and Cefyn Burgess.

Help us to choose one of the Y Lle Celf’s winners during the week, the Josef Herman Prize – the People’s Choice.  You can vote for your favourite work in the open exhibition and the winner will be announced in Y Lle Celf at 15.00 on the final Saturday.
