Choir performing on the pavilion stage with 'fans' in their hands and smiling

Some of our competitors have gone on to become world famous after starting their journey on the Pavilion stage. Come and enjoy Welsh competing at its best in our Pavilion.

Come in to watch and listen – the doors are closed at intervals during the competitions, and our friendly volunteers will let you in at the first opportunity if there are seats available.

There’s lots of choirs, bands, groups and individuals taking part this year, so our competitions programme runs until late in the evening.

The competition evenings are also free with a Maes ticket, and with the standards so high, you’ll have a great time.  There’s a special theme to every evening:

  • Tuesday evening: dance competitions
  • Wednesday evening: open choir competition (entertainment)
  • Thursday evening: folk competitions
  • Friday evening: choral competitions

If you need a little bit of help with your Cymraeg, call into our translation hub right outside the Pavilion to pick up your free translation kit.  We offer simultaneous translation into English throughout the day in the Pavilion so you won’t miss a thing.

The world-famous Gorsedd ceremonies are also held in the Pavilion. We honour our country's best poets and writers in these colourful, unique and entertaining ceremonies.

Gosedd ceremonies:

Crowning: Monday 5 August at 16:00

Prose Medal: Wednesday 7 August at 16:00

Chair: Friday 9 August at 16:00

If the weather isn’t great, the ceremonies to honour and welcome new members to the Gorsedd will be held in the Pavilion at 10:00 on Monday and Friday morning.  They’re held in Cylch yr Orsedd next to the main entrance if the weather is fine.

Come and enjoy the competitions with your Maes ticket – no extra ticket needed for the competitions – but do try and arrive early if you’re thinking of catching one of the ceremonies, as it gets very full.

You’ll need a concert ticket for the Nia Ben Aur concert on Saturday night (Monday night is sold out) and the Cymanfa Ganu (congregational singing) on Sunday night. Click here to buy a ticket.
