The James Pantyfedwen Trust takes great pleasure in being able to support the Rhondda Cynon Taf National Eisteddfod 2024 - as it has supported this national event for many years

This year, financial support is given to the Service on the first Sunday morning, and to the Encore pavilion and the variety of musical events taking place there during the week.

The James Pantyfedwen Foundation is a Welsh charity which began its operations in 1998, being the successor of two former charitable trusts set up by the late Sir DJ James.

His wish was to create a permanent endowment for the benefit of the people of Wales, and his initial investment continues to support the people of Wales.

The Foundation distributes around £500,000 in grants every year, to support postgraduate students from Wales, chapels and churches wishing to renovate their buildings or buy new equipment and resources, and around 75 eisteddfodau.

Various beneficiary reports can be seen on the Pantyfedwen website.  It is great to see that the investment and vision of the man from Pontrhydfendigaid continues to make a difference to individuals and organisations in Wales.

The Morlan-Pantyfedwen Annual Lecture is organised by the James Pantyfedwen Foundation and the Morlan Centre in Aberystwyth.

2024 saw Professor Virginia Gamba, Special Representative of the United Nation’s Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict, delivering an outstanding lecture entitled Building Connections for the Common Good: Dialogue and Trust in the Pursuit of Peace. Her lecture - and many others over the years - can be seen on the website.

DJ James: His Life and Legacy

In 2021, the Foundation published a book by Richard Morgan, the former Executive Secretary for over thirty years, on Sir David James and the Foundation.

This interesting read follows the young boy from Ceredigion to London, where he worked in the family’s dairy business before investing in a grain company and many cinemas in London.

Later in life, he decided to use his wealth to support the citizens and organisations of Wales, an endowment which is still being implemented according to his wishes.

The book is on sale for £18 and is available from the Foundation’s Office - 01970 612806 or post@jamespantyfedwen.cymru
