It’s all about community

Dylan, masgot draig Cymdeithas Adeiladu Princiality

We’re proud to have been born in Wales. Our business is, and always will be, deeply embedded in the heart of Welsh heritage.

Our history has evolved in tandem with the National Eisteddfod, as both Principality Building Society and this iconic cultural festival were both established in 1860. Though the first Eisteddfod event took place a year later, the spirit of innovation, celebration and connection to Welsh language and culture that marked both our beginnings, continues to drive us forward.

As one of the leading businesses in Wales, with our roots and branches in communities across the country, we believe that creating social value for our customers and colleagues, our communities, our environment and wider society needs to sit alongside creating financial value.

We are here to make life’s hopes and aspirations possible, that’s why we commit to share up to 3% of our profit before tax, investing in future generations and building the collective strength and resilience of the communities we serve.

A familiar and friendly face on the high street, with 53 branches and 14 agencies across Wales and the Welsh borders, we have the biggest branch presence of any bank or building society in Wales.

Our locations on the high street mean we’re embedded in daily life, with branch colleagues actively involved with schools and community groups, supporting, volunteering, fundraising and celebrating local social, educational and environmental projects that matter most to local people.

As well as championing our local communities, we’re also part of the fabric of national life, and this year we’re celebrating our focus on inspiring future generations by sponsoring the Pentref Plant at the Eisteddfod, a safe space for pre-school and primary school age to get involved in all kinds of fun and games on the Maes.

Our Welsh Network, led by our colleagues, will also be taking centre stage at the Eisteddfod this year. The network encourages and supports everyone to socialise in Welsh, practice Welsh and learn about our rich, Welsh culture (and eat some very nice Welsh food!). Welshness is in our DNA.

As the town of Pontypridd itself is playing an important role during the week, creating an urban, alternative and exciting Eisteddfod, combining the local area with the festival itself, we’re also decking out our branch to welcome in passing visitors.

Through mortgage and savings products and our commercial lending activities, we’re able to focus on delivering Better Homes, Secure Futures, and a Fairer Society.  Principality will always remain connected to the country’s history and we are able to build on the strength that gives us, to ensure we’re playing a leading role in shaping its future.
