Welsh Government announces an additional £350,000 for the National Eisteddfod to offer free entry and food vouchers to eligible Rhondda Cynon Taf residents
Today (13 March), the Minister for Education and Welsh Language, Jeremy Miles, announced additional funding of £350,000 for the Eisteddfod to make this year’s festival accessible to lower income families in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
This scheme allows free entry and food vouchers for up to 18,400 eligible local residents to attend the Eisteddfod held in Parc Ynysangharad, Pontypridd from 3-10 August.
Welcoming the news, Eisteddfod Chief Executive, Betsan Moses said, “We’re very grateful to the Welsh Government for their support to ensure that local people are able to visit this year’s Eisteddfod.
“This offer includes a free ticket to the Maes as well as food vouchers, and we think it’s vitally important that we can offer more than just a free ticket to make sure that our festival is accessible to everyone who wants to join us at Parc Ynysangharad in August. We want all our visitors to have an amazing day with a chance to experience our language and culture on their doorstep.
“We’ll be announcing more details about the scheme soon, and we look forward to welcoming everyone to join us in Rhondda Cynon Taf very soon.”
