Chroma has won this year’s Battle of the Bands, following a competition held on the Open Air Stage last night, when six artists and groups performed for the prize.
Chroma came out on top following four highly successful regional rounds, in co-operation with gig organisers including Clwb 4 a 6 and the Parrot Club in Carmarthen and last night’s final.
The judges were Ifan Davies (Swnami), Mei Gwynedd (Sibrydion) and Heledd Watkins (HMS Morris) and the presenter was Lisa Gwilym.
The prize is £1,000, a chance to perform at Maes B on Saturday night, a session with a photographer and a feature article in music magazine, Y Selar. Over the past few weeks, all bands or performers on the shortlist had a mentoring session with Mei Gwynedd to learn more about how to work within the Welsh pop scene.
Brwydr y Bandiau is organised by Maes B, C2 BBC Radio Cymru and Mentrau Iaith Cymru.

Zac and Liam were members of several bands in the Pontypridd area before forming Chroma with Katie.
It came as quite a suprise to Katie however that she was joining an alt rock band and that there would be no room for accoustic songs.
A small band but one that makes a lot of noise is how they describe themselves and name bands such as The White Stripes, Biffy Clyro, Slaves & Marmozets amongst their musical heroes.
The next stage after the Battle of the Bands will be to write and release an EP, get the chance to tour and play more gigs!
The other performers on the shortlist were Siân Richards, Jacob Elwy, Glain Rhys, Pyroclastig and Henebion.
