On the first morning of the Monmouthshire and District Eisteddfod, the message is clear - everyone is very welcome at Castle Meadows, Abergavenny – with a great big Croeso for all!
With over a thousand activities held throughout the Maes during the week, organisers hope to attract thousands of visitors to Abergavenny. Eisteddfod Chief Executive, Elfed Roberts says, “The Maes is in a great location this year, minutes from the town centre. We hope that this will encourage people to come along and see what's on the Maes.
"The last two years have been a very productive and happy period for us at the Eisteddfod, working with local volunteers and Monmouthshire County Council. The support has been excellent and as the Maes opens its gates this morning, it is a great pleasure to thank and pay tribute to all those involved with the work.
"This is the Eisteddfod of the people of Monmouthshire, and local residents have waited long enough for us to visit the area - over a hundred years! The gates are open and the welcome is warm, so come and visit us at Castle Meadows."
