Winners of the 2016 Maes B and Radio Cymru Brwydr y Bandiau (Battle of the Bands) have been chosen to perform in the Reading and Leeds festivals this summer as part of the BBC Introducing scheme.
The BBC has a two-day stage in both festivals, with opportunities for new artists who have made an impact in the music world, and BBC radio stations are able to nominate artists to perform.
Chroma were nominated by Radio Cymru, and the band will be performing at Reading and Leeds, as well as at the Eisteddfod before the end of the month.
Guto Brychan, Maes B Organiser, said on behalf of the Maes B and Radio Cymru partnership, “We are delighted that Chroma have been chosen to perform on the famous BBC Introducing stage, a year after winning the Brwydr y Bandiau competition at the beginning of their career.
“We knew that there was something special about the band from the start, and it’s great to see that they appeal to music lovers across Wales as well. Brwydr y Bandiau gave the new young bands the opportunity to find out more about the scene and have fantastic experiences which will benefit them later on in their careers.
“Remember that this year’s competition is held on the Open Air Stage tomorrow afternoon, so we’ll find out then who the 2017 winner is then, from 16:00 onwards. Chroma will be performing on the Open Air Stage at 15:00 tomorrow before the competition, and then in Maes B tomorrow evening.”
Brwydr y Bandiau is a partnership between Maes B and Radio Cymru.
