Lido Ponty, Ynysangharad Park

For the first time ever, there’s a heated outdoor swimming pool on the Maes - and it's open throughout the week! Anyone with a Maes ticket can buy a ticket to book a swimming session at the Lido.

The lido opened in 1927. According to reports, this was the largest open-air swimming pool in Wales at the time, and at its most popular, up to 1,000 people would visit in a day.

The Mediterranean influence is clear in the architecture of the lido. It was officially closed in 1991 after a serious fire and years of lack of maintenance. Being a Grade II Listed Building, it could not be demolished, and was left to decay for years.

But, in 2013, work began on its restoration, following investment from the Welsh Government, the European Regional Development Fund and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, and it was reopened in 2015.
