Tŷ Gwerin

A unique session between the visitors from Khasia mountains and Dawnswyr Delyn, Flintshire. We welcome the visitors from Khasi Hills low mountain formation on the Shillong Plateau in the Meghalaya state of India. During the session we will discuss how the Welsh shawl became part of their culture and dress, and how it is still used today to carry children on their backs. We will explore the connection between Flintshire and the Khasi hills and the Welsh costume. The women from the Khasi hills also have an interesting dance. Welsh stepping and shawl dance will be demonstrated and compared with the Khasi dance. Under the guidance of Meinir Siencyn and Dawnswyr Delyn, Cefyn Burgess and the women from The Khasi Hills.
