After the success of last year’s Tafod Arian tour – The Lost Hymns of the People – which filled nearly fifty chapels to the brim, singer Lleuwen Steffan returns with the latest development of Tafod Arian. She will perform more hymns and brand new songs with her full band, set against a visual backdrop by filmmaker Aled Victor.
Tafod Arian began when Lleuwen discovered lost folk hymns in the sound archive of St Fagans National Museum of History. These hymns – overlooked by official hymn books – were songs of the people, passed on orally and forgotten over time. Through Tafod Arian, we pay tribute to the voices of the past, immersing their timeless melodies and lyrics in heartfelt, contemporary arrangements and interpretations. This production breathes new life into archival recordings, ensuring that these oral hymns of the countryside, once beloved by the nation, reclaim their place on today’s Welsh stages
