A new opera commissioned by NEW Sinfonia to commemorate 90 years since the Gresford Mining Disaster. A fateful disaster at the Gresford Colliery, one of the worst mining disasters in British history. The disaster holds a resonance and significance to this day, not just for the people of Wrexham, but for former mining communities across Wales and the UK.The opera not only tells the story of the disaster but explores the reactions and feelings felt in the aftermath, right up to the resurgence of Wrexham as a community in the modern day.
