This talk by the artist and lecturer Gwenllian Beynon one of the trustees of the Josef Herman Art Foundation. This talk will present the less familiar work of the Polish Refugee artist Josef Herman who lived in Ystradgynlais in the Swansea Valley between 1944 and 55. Gwenllian will present work both from the Herman Foundation collection and from other sources. Josef Herman is well known for his depictions of coal miners and people, especially from the coal mining Swansea valley, but in this talk we will look at other kinds of work that he did to include birds, flowers and carpet designs.
