Adwaith are a trailblazing trio from Carmarthen, Wales, known for their fusion of post-punk, alternative pop, and experimental indie. Formed in 2015 by Hollie Singer (vocals, guitar), Gwenllian Anthony (bass, keys), and Heledd Owen (drums), the band has become a vital voice in alternative music, championing the Welsh language on global stages. Their 2018 debut album Melyn received critical acclaim and won the Welsh Music Prize. In 2022, they followed with Bato Mato, a bold, Siberia-influenced record shaped by a transformative journey aboard the Trans-Siberian Railway to perform in Ulan-Ude—making them the first band to win the prize twice. In 2025, Adwaith released Solas, an ambitious 23-track double album written and recorded across Wales, Lisbon, and the Outer Hebrides. Overflowing with emotion and sonic exploration, it marks their most powerful statement yet. Adwaith have toured extensively across the UK, Europe, and North America, and played major festivals including Glastonbury and SXSW in the US. Their track “ETO” was named Welsh song of the decade, and they were recently recognised as the most influential Welsh-language act of the last ten years. Adwaith continue to push boundaries with pride, purpose, and innovation.
