9Bach is one of Wales' most inventive bands, combining innate Welsh music with contemporary sounds and beats. By reimagining and redefining cultural identities, their music serves as a bridge between generations as well as between past and present Although they have recently taken a break from the public eye, Lisa Jên and her husband Martin Hoyland have been active in the shadows, and now they're back on the scene - with a completely new sound. Following their recent collaboration with innovative hybrid drummer Andy Gangadeen (Chase & Status, Lava La Rue), their work has evolved and moved back toward Lisa and Martin's earliest musical influences - Acid House and the free party scene of the 80s and 90s. Combining long-lasting musical memories with contemporary sonic experiments, the sound this time is more electronic, up-tempo and rhythmic, while remaining true to 9Bach's identity. The aim is to recreate that hypnotic trance they experienced at raves in the quarries of North Wales and London Warehouse parties through euphoric beats that compel the body to move. As Lisa says, "The new stuff comes from who I really am. After all, I'm a raver at heart, not a folk singer.
