Vattenfall’s Pen y Cymoedd windfarm has been operational above Rhondda Cynon Taf since 2017, with 76 turbines producing enough electricity to power 15% of Welsh homes annually.
Beyond the wind farm, an independent community benefit scheme provides £2.4million annual investment focused on making a difference to the lives of local people.
This talk by Rahel Jones - Head of Stakeholder Engagement Onshore and Thomas Tudor Jones – Chair of the Pen y Cymoedd CIC, tells the story of the windfarm - from before the first spade went into the ground, to the innovative work being done today to restore the peatland it co-exists with, and the extensive impact of the community benefits being felt across the valleys today.
