The South Wales Police Band and Drums were formed in 1981 to foster police / public relations and to enhance Police ceremonial engagements.
The band has performed all over the country as well as overseas trips to France, Belgium, Germany and Malta. Over the years the band has taken part in many charity fundraising concerts, Remembrance Day and Armed Forces Day parades, school visits, local fetes as well as many Police related engagements.
We have appeared on television programmes such as Blue Peter, Songs of Praise, Children in Need and, more recently, Crimewatch. The band is a philanthropic organisation and does not charge for appearances. The band was originally made up of serving officers but today's band is made up of mainly Police Support Volunteers such as retired officers and staff and members of public from all walks of life who wish to give something back to the community.
