1. Compete
    • All compositions of the department must be registered and submitted digitally via the Eisteddfod website, uploading work when completing the process before the relevant deadline
    • Hard copies of the constitutions will not be accepted
    • The literary compositions must be submitted in Microsoft Word format (unless otherwise stated)
  2. Restrictions
    • It is not allowed to send essentially the same work to more than one competition.
    • No work may be sent to a publisher until the criticism has been published in the Compositions and Reviews volume during the week of the Eisteddfod
  3. Language
    • Work that uses defamatory material or references will not be accepted.
    • Competitors' attention is drawn to the Eisteddfod Language Rule - See Language condition in General Rules and Conditions.
  4. Artificial Intelligence (A.I.): Software that uses artificial intelligence to create or assist in the process of creating compositions that compete in this section is not allowed.
  5. The Crown Competition: The crown competition is a competition for a poem or poems in the free or stilted meters and poems in the traditional strict meters are not allowed. Only very occasional use of the gynganedd is allowed in the competition.
  6. Daniel Owen Memorial Prize: Register and submit compositions digitally through a registration system on the Eisteddfod website by 1 October 2024
  7. The Prose Medal: Register and submit compositions digitally through a registration system on the Eisteddfod website by 1 December 2024
  8. Commitments: If a competitor has a commitment as an author with a particular publisher, they must provide the name of the publisher, along with their name and contact details when registering.
