- Singing and presenting
For the vocal solo competitions we recommend that your performance is presented:- naturally - without any technical over use of the voice
- by prioritising the words, experience and tone
- by interpreting through subtle colour and reference, without over-dramatisation
- by placing more importance on the words as opposed to the melody
- allowing the words to control the musical rhythm
- by interpreting the song in accordance to its traditional meaning, as far as possible
- the arrangement and interpretation of the melody and words are prioritised, and thus in the folk tradition

It is the responsibility of choirs, parties, groups or individuals to obtain the copyright of any selfselection pieces. This must be stated when registering. Further guidance and instructions can be found in the ‘Competition’ section of the Eisteddfod website. Copies must be uploaded by 9 June 2023 - Age
The competitor must be within the competition’s age range on 31 August 2023. - Copies
It is illegal to make your own additional copies of music, poetry or any published work. -
Semi-final and final tests
Solo and group competitors will compete in a semi final round with the top three reaching the final
