What is the Maes?

‘The Maes’ is the name of the Eisteddfod site. This is where the Pavilion, stands, buildings, food village and the stage are located.  Simply, this is where the Eisteddfod is held.

The Maes naturally divides into a number of villages or sections, including the area around the Pavilion, the Food Village, Drama Village and the Literature Village.  There are stands and stalls dotted around the Maes, with plenty of things to see and do throughout the week.

The Maes is different every year.  As a travelling festival, the Maes has to be re-designed so that everything fits together like a jigsaw.  Remember to study the map before you set off and you’ll find help and support in the Visitors’ Centre and the main entrance as you arrive.
