Originally from Holland Arms, Anglesey, Steffan Lloyd Owen is in his third year at the Royal Northern College of Music, studying singing.
He has won many prizes in various eisteddfodau, was awarded the Scholarship for the Most Promising Soloist at the Urdd Eisteddfod, and last year received the Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize at the National Eisteddfod in Monmouthshire. He also won the Baritone Solo under 25, the Lieder Solo and the Cerdd Dant Duet.
At the end of his first year at college, Steffan won the Singer of the Year Awards, and was chosen to represent the college in the Kathleen Ferrier Awards in Blackburn, competing against 15 other students from colleges across the UK. He won the competition, and is only the second student from the Royal Northern to have received this accolade.
Steffan will play the part of Hedd Wyn in Marc Evans’ operatic film of the same name, which will appear on S4C and in cinemas across Wales later on this year.
