Tŷ Gwerin

Ffidil Fawr emerged during the lockdown as a unifying project, creating a celebratory video that brought together string players from across Wales. In 2024, VRï hosted the inaugural Ffidil Fawr Welsh fiddle weekend, marking a significant moment in the revival of Welsh traditional string music. This September, the event returns, promising an even larger gathering of fiddle enthusiasts. As part of this celebration, Tŷ Gwerin—the heart of folk culture at the National Eisteddfod—will host an open rehearsal and a special concert featuring VRï and members of the Welsh fiddle community. This event offers a rare glimpse into the collaborative spirit and musical synergy that define the Ffidil Fawr weekend. Adding to the vibrancy of the performance, special guests Cywaith Dawns Collective will join the stage, blending contemporary dance with the rich tapestry of Welsh fiddle music. This fusion of movement and melody promises an immersive experience, celebrating the depth and dynamism of Welsh cultural traditions.
