A celebration of the work of the late multilingual poet Childe Roland / Peter Meilleur (1943 - 2019): an experimental poet with an intensely heraldic voice, known and loved for his visual and performed poetry, and his unique, extraordinary character.
Peter grew up in Quebec, and moved to Llangollen, North Wales in 1979. Poetically speaking, the move to Wales was significant in that Peter added the Welsh language, whose complex etymology never ceased to fascinate him, to his native French and English.
During this event poets Aled Lewis Evans and Aled Roberts will perform Peter’s iconic poem Dee and Deeper, with musical accompaniment by Beth Jones. Aled and Aled will then hold a discussion about the rich vibrancy of Peter’s work, welcoming questions and contributions from audience members.
A number of Peter’s sculptural books will be on display and available for careful handling.
