The Global Network for Women Music Producers

“The Global Network for Women Music Producers began as an idea of a first step at addressing gender inequality in music production.  We wanted to bring women together to start new conversations, new networks, and provide new opportunities for learning and collaborating for women in the studio.  The program began with producers in Canada, Sweden, Estonia, Argentina, and Australia.  The addition of the Welsh producers has added a new layer of cultural learning and opportunity for all of the women in the program that has included collaborations in the Welsh language at the National Eisteddfod and projects that are influenced by traditional Welsh songs and culture.  We are very excited to bring the annual in person event to Wales in 2024.”

Heather Gibbson, Executive Producer, Popular Music and Variety, National Arts Centre Canada

Bringing the network together annually is an important aspect of the program, and in August 2024, the group will meet in Wales. From 7-16 August, they will collaborate in studios, take part in discussions and at networking events, have vital opportunities to showcase, and learn more about each other’s cultures and languages.

As part of the specially curated tour around Wales, there will be a distinctive focus on Wales, including an immersion in the culture and language at its best through a full day the National Eisteddfod of Wales Festival in Pontypridd.

Five music producers from Wales will also join the international producers across the tour: Eädyth, Ani Glass, Heledd Watkins, Lleuwen Steffan and Branwen Munn. This international project is truly valuable for everyone involved, especially when fighting for equality, and bridging the gap between the Merched yn Gwneud Miwsig (Women Making Music) project – a partnership project between Maes B and Clwb Ifor Bach, and other projects of international status.

The full tour itinerary includes visits to:
