Hailing from Pontardawe but now based in Cardiff, Aneirin is one of Wales’ most exciting fiddle players. As a member of award-winning trio Vrï, Aneirin has performed on many international stages (Festival Interceltique Lorient, Celtic Colours in Nova Scotia, Celtic Connections and Folk Alliance International in New Orleans to name but a few).
As a teenager Aneirin attended fantastic music courses organised by Trac Cymru, especially the youth-residential course Gwerin Gwallgo (2015-17), which he then attended as a fiddle tutor in more recent years. He then studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland in Glasgow to study Bmus in Traditional Music (2017-2020), learning with some of Scotland’s finest traditional musicians before returning home to Wales.
Aneirin continues to develop his craft, with this being his first performance as a solo artist with accompaniment from Patrick Rimes (piano) and Sam Robinson (bodhrán). The set consists of Wales’ most popular traditional music repertoire (and a few of his own compositions), that he learnt from local folk sessions in the Swansea Valley, where his journey with traditional music began as a child.
