There’s only a week to go before the closing date for the Monmouthshire and District National Eisteddfod stage competitions.
This is the final opportunity to encourage individuals, groups, bands and choirs to take part. The closing date is 1 May.
It’s easier than ever to register to compete, thanks to the new online registration system, which has attracted lots of competitors already. Everything can be done on the computer without having to worry about the post arriving in time for the closing date.
You can also compete in the traditional way, and entry forms are available in the List of Competitions, online or by ringing the office on 0845 4090 400.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Elen Elis, says, “The response to the composition competitions in Monmouthshire has been excellent, and we’re keen to get the same support for the stage competitions. We have a new pavilion this year, which will offer a better experience for competitors and the audience, so why not compete to be one of the first to perform on our brand new stage?
“The online registration system has transformed our work. It’s much easier to register by now, and this has helped competitors and has also made our life easier here in the office.
“We’ve changed some of the competitions, and this is a great opportunity for choirs and the other groups and so on. There are no set pieces this year, so we’ll have far more variety in the programmes, which will hopefully appeal to both performers and the audience alike.
“So, with only a week to go until the closing date, it’s time to register and to contact us to be included in the Eisteddfod this year. Competing at the festival is a fantastic experience, lots of fun and is a chance to receive an adjudication from top judges. Make sure you don’t miss your chance to be part of the week in Abergavenny.”
The Monmouthshire and District National Eisteddfod is held on Castle Meadows, Abergavenny from 29 July – 6 August. For more information, to register to compete and buy tickets, go to www.eisteddfod.wales.
