Once again, the National Eisteddfod’s annual Golf Competition looks set to be a great success, with this year event marking the 34th time the competition has been held.
This year’s hotly-contested event will be held at the attractive Maesdu Golf Club, Llandudno on Wednesday 7 August.
Maesdu is a picturesque 18 hole championship course, is very popular and suitable for all Eisteddfod golfers! Sandra Thomas, Club Manager said “The Clubhouse has a warm and friendly atmosphere, and as a Club we are delighted to be offering our support to the National Eisteddfod during its visit to Conwy County, and very much look forward to welcoming Eisteddfod golfers here to Maesdu.”
“I would like to express our thanks to Menna Roberts former Lady Captain who has been coordinating all the arrangements to ensure the day is a success.”
The competition format is mixed individual stableford, and there are only a handful of early and late afternoon tee times available. Visitors pay £20 with £5 going towards the Eisteddfod fund. Prizes are available for best guests and members.
Remaining tee times can be reserved and paid for online at www.brsgolf.com/maesdu/opens_day.php. For any other enquiries contact the Club on 01492 876450 or email email@example.com.
The golf day is sponsored by Teiars Nant Conwy Tyres Ltd, and Llion Roberts, Company Director said, “As a local business we are delighted to have the opportunity to support the Conwy County National Eisteddfod and this year’s golf competition”.
Alwyn Roberts, Eisteddfod Head of Community Delivery, added, “The golf competition is an important part of festival week – indeed the highlight of the week for some! Over the years, it has become increasingly popular, with the accolade of winning the coveted golf trophies as important to the players as the stage competitions are to choirs and bands from across Wales!”
“We are looking forward to welcoming players to the beautiful course at Maesdu, and are very grateful to Teiars Nant Conwy for sponsoring the event.”
