Dani is originally from Germany, but fell in love with Wales when she came here on holiday, so much so that when she returned home, she started learning Welsh.
Two years ago, she felt confident enough speaking Welsh and left her home and job and moved to Menai Bridge. She immediately registered in a Welsh class, and has passed her Canolradd (Intermediate) course and is hoping to study the Uwch (Higher) course.
She uses Welsh every day, at work and socially, and enjoys being involved with cultural and artistic events and activities. She has already competed at the National Eisteddfod, and came second in the learners’ recitation competition last year, and is also a member of the successful Dros y Bont choir, and is this year part of the Eisteddfod Choir.
She is very keen to see more people learning Welsh and is more than happy to help anyone. She is a member of this year’s Eisteddfod learners’ committee, and often attends sessions for learners at Palas Print, Caernarfon, regularly bringing new learners with her.
Dani said, “I had to move to Wales. I fell in love with the country and the language. The area, its nature, the mountains and the language are all beautiful, and living here is a dream come true.”
