Own choice, up to 12 minutes including an unaccompanied piece and a piece by a Welsh composer. The two elements can be combined to include an unaccompanied piece by a Welsh composer. Choirs can also choose to perform an arrangement of a Welsh folk song by a Welsh composer. Choirs will not be permitted to sing the same song in another category during the Eisteddfod.

The Merched Hafren – Jayne Davies Medal will be presented to the conductor of the winning choir.
24. Best Welsh Song
y Ffiwsilwyr Cymreig to be held for a year and £250 (£150 Sesiwn Nos Wener, Tal-y-bont; £100 Gwynfor a Shelagh Jones, Aberystwyth er cof am Dan Morgan Jones, y cerddor o Bontrhydfendigaid), will be awarded to a choir in the choral section for the best performance of a piece by a Welsh composer.
25. Festival Choral Conductor in memory of Sioned James to the best choral conductor according to adjudicators.

The adjudication panel will choose one of the winning choirs to receive a prize of £1,000, the Welsh Guards Cup to be held for a year, and a workshop with an international conductor to be held at the Wales Millennium Centre, Cardiff.
