Remember to join us at the 2020 National Eisteddfod public meeting a week tonight!
The public meeting to welcome the National Eisteddfod to Ceredigion will be held at 19:00 on Thursday 20 September at Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron.
There’s a warm welcome for people from all parts of the county to join the meeting and to volunteer as part of the project leading up to the National Eisteddfod held in the Tregaron area from 1-8 August, with the opening concert on Friday evening, 31 July 2020.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Elen Elis, said, “This meeting is to get the ball rolling with the work of organising the National Eisteddfod in Ceredigion. This is always an exciting time as we bring the team together and start discussing potential themes for competitions.
“We want to hear from anyone interested in being part of the work, so come to the meeting next week, or you can register your interest on the Eisteddfod website if you’d like to get involved.
“As well as finding out more about the work over the next two years, nominations for the Executive Committee officials will open at the public meeting, with nominations accepted for the roles of Executive Chair, Chair of the Finance Committee and Executive Secretary via email or an online form until 5 October.
“A further meeting will be held on Saturday 13 October, when people will be able to vote to elect officials for the Executive Committee as well as all the other sub-committees. And we’ll also start the work of choosing the themes for the competition, so keep the date free if you’d like to get involved.
“But remember, you don’t have to be an elected official, we’re also looking for plenty of enthusiastic and hard working individuals of all ages and backgrounds to help with the work of ensuring that the 2020 Eisteddfod is a fantastic festival.”
Leader of Ceredigion County Council, Ellen ap Gwynn, added, ““This public meeting to welcome the 2020 National Eisteddfod to Ceredigion will be a great step towards sharing the vison of the 2020 Eisteddfod with the county’s residents. It will be a fantastic opportunity for all our communities to join together and to be part of this exciting journey as one big team.
I look forward to meeting residents at the meeting and helping towards ensuring Eisteddfod 2020 is a big success in every way.”
All the details will be published on the Eisteddfod website, www.eisteddfod.wales, and the 2020 Eisteddfod pages will be developed over the next few months
