But this is no ordinary Eisteddfod, with the festival being held in the Bay, using an exciting mix of iconic permanent buildings and temporary structures.
The Eisteddfod as a charitable incorporated organisation costs in excess of £4 million per annum, and a local fund target of £320,000 was established a year ago for Cardiff’s contribution towards the cost of hosting the festival. The Eisteddfod is extremely grateful for all donations and financial contributions, some of which are received annually and others towards specific festivals. By contributing once or regularly individuals can make a big difference to the success of the local fund and, as a result, the content of festival itself.
The fundraising appeal thus far is going well in Cardiff, but a lot of effort and support is still required to ensure that the target is reached to enable us to host a festival that will meet the expectations of the thousands of visitors who will be flocking to Cardiff from all over Wales and beyond.
It would imprudent of us not let everybody know how to support the festival because no-one asked or told you, so this is how!
The most convenient way to contribute to the 2018 Cardiff Eisteddfod is through the JustGiving website, where it is possible to contribute any amount monthly, or give a single, small or large contribution, anytime between now and the Eisteddfod. A link to the JustGiving website can be found at the bottom of this page.
If you want your details to appear in the Programme's donor list next year, when contributing through JustGiving, enter the name of the appeal committee in the message box; e.g. Radyr, Fairwater or the general fund, and provide your name (i.e. John and Mair Jones)
Ondoubtedly, paying by check is still the most popular way of contributing to the Eisteddfod. If you wish to make a contribution, please send your check made payable to the National Eisteddfod of Wales 2018 to Elaine Stokes, Local Finance Officer, Eisteddfod Office, 40 Parc Tŷ Glas, Llanishen, Cardiff. CF14 5DU.
To ensure that the details are recorded correctly in the Programme, download the PDF Donation Form below and let us know how you would like us to record your donation in Section 1 and 2, and remember to complete the Gift Aid Declaration in Section 3 (if applicable) which will enable the Eisteddfod to claim an extra 25% on the value of your donation at no extra cost to you.
If you want us to acknowledge your donation as anonymous gift, please state on the form.
If you would like to create a bank order to contribute a series of payments over a fixed period, download the PDF Donation Form below and complete the relevant details in Section 4.
Supporting local activities
Support for community activities is extremely important to the success of the Eisteddfod and the work carried out over a two year period is a central pivot of the project, to raise money and awareness of the festival’s visit to the area and the Welsh Language. There are 13 appeal committees operating across the Capital, organising a range of diverse activities. If you want to support these activities, visit our local events page to find out what's going on in your area
