2018 Eisteddfod Choir

This exciting project is under the baton of Musical Director Jeff Howard, alongside composers John Quirk, Mei Gwynedd and Geraint Cynan.

This year's project is divided into two sections:

Part 1: Combining some of the Welsh rock scene's most iconic songs with the classical, mixing Meic Stevens with Mozart or Candelas with Verdi.  Arrangements by Geraint Cynan.

Part 2: 'Teilwng yw yr Oen' - a pure rock arrangement of Handel's Messiah.  A new twist on one of Wales' most famous 'rock operas', reworked by Mei Gwynedd and John Quirk, and a brand new adaptation of the lyrics by John Gwilym Jones.

The Cardiff National Eisteddfod will be a very different festival, and is held in Cardiff Bay, combining the use of permanent buildings and attractive temporary structures to create an attractive and exciting Maes,  The Pavilion is located in the Millennium Centre, and this is where the Eisteddfod Choir will perform during festival week.

Remember, if you have registered for the choir, a Come and Sing session will be held at the Reardon Smith Theatre, National Museum Cardiff on Sunday 22 October from 14:00 - 17:00.

Weekly rehearsals will start on Sunday 5 November from 14:30 - 16:30 at the Reardon Smith Theatre, with Richard Vaughan & Rhiannon Pritchard at the helm.  Established choirs will join the Eisteddfod Choir every six weeks for a joint rehearsal with MD, Jeff Howard.
