Over two hundred people from Conwy County came together this evening (12 October) to welcome the announcement that the 2019 Eisteddfod will be held in the county.
This was the first opportunity for local people to show their support and to volunteer as part of the project, with the festival held from 2-10 August 2019.
Organiser, Elen Elis, said, “This is an Eisteddfod for the whole county and it’s great to see so many people here tonight. I very much hope that lots of people will get involved with the preparations, as there’s plenty of work to do, starting with the List of Competitions.
“The location of the Maes is still under discussion at the moment, and there will be announcement before very long. In the meantime, it’s important that we create a strong team with people of all ages and backgrounds from all parts of the county.”
Nominations were opened for three roles on the Executive Committee. Individuals can be nominated for the Chair of the Executive Committee, Chair of the Finance Committee and the Secretary of the Executive Committee. This can be done online or by emailing the office before 25 October.
The committees will met for the first time on Saturday 28 October at Ysgol Dyffryn Conwy, Llanrwst, with a warm welcome for anyone wishing to get involved. You can register online beforehand or turn up on the day. This is where the vote for the officers will be held.
