‘The Maes’ is the name of the Eisteddfod site.
This is where the Pavilion, stands, buildings, food village and the stage are located. Simply, this is where the Eisteddfod is held.
The Maes naturally divides into a number of villages or sections, including the area around the Pavilion, the Food Village, Drama Village and the Literature Village. Up to 250 stands and stalls are dotted around the Maes, and there are plenty of things to see and do throughout the week.
The Maes is different every year. As a travelling festival, the Maes has to be re-designed so that everything fits together like a jigsaw. Remember to study the map before you set off and you’ll find help and support in the Visitors’ Centre and the main entrance as you arrive.
We also organise free bilingual guided tours leaving the Visitors’ Centre twice a day (11.00 and 14.00 every day), and these are aimed at new visitors.
