Following the recent successful public meeting which attracted 400 people, the work of organising the 2020 Ceredigion Eisteddfod begins in earnest on Saturday 13 October, creating the committees and group to lead the local work for the next two years.
The meeting is held at 10:00 in Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Elen Elis said, “There’s a warm welcome for anyone who wants to be part of the preparations for the Eisteddfod in Ceredigion to join us on 13 October.
“We are keen to attract people of all ages and from all over the county to join us to be part of the preparations. The committees will choose the competitions and are part of the team creating the activities programme during festival week. We’re hoping that everyone will enjoy being part of the team as we look forward to a memorable week in Tregaron in almost two years time.
“But not everyone wants to be part of a formal committee and we hope that groups of friends and neighbours will get together at community level to organise all kinds of events and activities from now until the Eisteddfod. These events are a vital part of the project’s success, and this is the best way to raise awareness and money locally.
“For the first time, people can join a brand new committee, Mas ar y Maes (LGBT+). This committee was set up following the success of the Mas ar y Maes programme in Cardiff this year, and is a partnership between the Eisteddfod, the LGBT+ community and Stonewall Cymru.”
We are also looking for volunteers to help us with the following subjects:
We’ll be creating teams to work on these issues over the next two years:
Any one interested in joining one of the committees can turn up on the day, and the Eisteddfod welcomes enquiries from anyone who wishes to take part in the work of organising the festival in 2018. 13 October is also the chance to elect the Executive Committee officers for Ceredigion, with voting taking place for the roles of Chair, Vice-Chair, and Secretary of the Executive Committee, as well as Chair of the Local Fund Committee. Only those present in Ysgol Gyfun Aberaeron on the day will be able to vote.
The Ceredigion Eisteddfod will be held in Tregaron from 1-8 August 2020.
