Following a successful public meeting at Cardiff’s Old Library in mid September, the work of organising the 2018 Eisteddfod in Cardiff Bay begins in earnest on Wednesday 12 October, creating the committees and group to lead the local work for the next two years.
Eisteddfod Organiser, Elen Elis said, “There’s a warm welcome for anyone who wants to be part of the preparations for the Eisteddfod in Cardiff to join us on 12 October.
“We are keen to attract people of all ages and from all over Cardiff to join us to be part of the preparations. The committees will choose the competitions and are part of the team creating the activities programme during festival week. We’re hoping that everyone will enjoy being part of the team as we look forward to a very different Eisteddfod in Cardiff Bay in almost two years time.
“But not everyone wants to be part of a formal committee and we hope that groups of friends and neighbours will get together at community level to organise all kinds of events and activities from now until the Eisteddfod. These events are a vital part of the project’s success, and this is the best way to raise awareness and money locally.
“We’ve also created a group to look specifically at the visitor experience, bringing together people who visit festivals regularly. This is a new development for 2018, and I hope we’ll get an enthusiastic group full of exciting ideas.”
We are also looking for volunteers to help us with the following subjects:
We’ll be creating teams to work on these issues over the next two years:
