The number of applications from Gorsedd members to be part of the Chairing ceremony at this year’s Eisteddfod means that the HSBC Pavilion stage is full, and registrations for the Friday afternoon session are now closed.
Members register beforehand for Gorsedd activities at the Eisteddfod every year, and according to Gorsedd Herald Bard, Dyfrig ab Ifor, this year’s response is excellent, and he says, “The Chairing ceremony is always the most popular event during the week, but the number of Gorsedd members registering this year has been fantastic.
“This also happened last year at the Anglesey National Eisteddfod, and it shows that Gorsedd actvities are very popular and that many members want to be part of the ceremonies during the week. This bodes very well for this year’s Eisteddfod in Cardiff and for the future.
“With the Chairing ceremony now full, members will now be registering for the other ceremonies, and we urge anyone to be quick – these are getting full as well. So, the message is simple – Gorsedd members – register straight away to be involved during Eisteddfod week.
“And then, we can all look forward to the Eisteddfod, hoping we’ll see worthy winners in each of the ceremonies, and that the Gorsedd will be able to celebrate success with the rest of Wales from a very full Pavilion stage, in the Donald Gordon Theatre within the wonderful Wales Millennium Centre!”
The Cardiff National Eisteddfod is held in Cardiff Bay from 3-11 August. For more information go to www.eisteddfod.wales or ring 0845 4090 900.
