Eden are the Eisteddfod's Friday night stars

22 March 2017

One of the big questions before Eisteddfod tickets go on sale every year is who’ll be headlining on the Open Air Stage on Friday night?

We’ve seen Edward H, Bryn Fôn, Geraint Jarman and Huw Chiswell over recent years, but who’s iconic enough to step onto the stage in Anglesey this year?

Over the past few days, clips of three mystery women have appeared on social media and online – the three obviously preparing for a trip, and a very glamourous one at that from the items in their cases.  But who are the mysterious ladies, and why do they have a huge ‘Anglesey’ sign in their hands?

With the Eisteddfod in Anglesey this year, it’s clear that the three are looking forward to the trip to the island.  And on Friday 11 August, everyone will be able to see the three of them live on stage in one of the performances of the year, as Rachael, Emma and Non – Eden – top the event for the evening.

The girls said, “The three of us are so excited that we’re doing The Big Gig on the Open Air Stage!! This is the perfect way to celebrate Paid â Bod Ofn’s 21st birthday!  We can’t wait to get to Anglesey and turn Bodedern into Bod-EDEN for one night only!”

And it’s hard to believe it’s 21 years since Paid â Bod Ofn, one of the great Welsh pop albums was released and they performed at Maes B in Bala.  The three, who have been singing together since school, became one of the scene’s biggest bands almost immediately, with their catchy songs, harmonies and slick moves, which appealed to fans of all ages.

Eisteddfod Organiser, Elen Elis, said, “Coming from the same part of the world as Eden, I can’t wait to see them performing in this slot on the Eisteddfod Maes.  This will definitely be one of the highlights of the week, and I know that there’ll be hundreds of others like me keen to re-live the 90s for the night!”

This is the first evening announcement for this year’s Eisteddfod.  More information will be released next week and tickets go on sale on 3 April.  For details and tickets go to www.eisteddfod.wales or ring 0845 4090 800.
