You can nominate yourself or a learner can be nominated by completing the entry form at the bottom of this page or in the ‘Beth Amdani’ booklet.
Every competitor should be over 18 and should be able to speak Welsh quite fluently.
The adjudicators will be looking for information regarding the following:
Family and interests
Reasons for learning Welsh
How the learner learnt the language
The effect learning Welsh has had on his / her life
The use s/he makes of the language
Hopes for the future
Welsh Learner of the Year Trophy (Ysgol y Gymraeg, Prifysgol Caerdydd) and £300 (Peter a Gill Griffiths, Pentyrch) for the winner; Trophies for the other three finalists (Ysgol y Gymraeg, Prifysgol Caerdydd) and £100 each (£100 Tony a Nans Couch, Llanisien, Caerdydd; £100 Jenni Jones-Annetts, Caerffili; £100 Gwilym Roberts, Rhiwbeina er cof am ei rieni William a Mary Roberts a’i frawd A. Wynn Roberts)
A year’s subscription to Golwg for those in the final
Donations from Merched y Wawr for the final four are also recognised
The winner will be invited to join the Gorsedd.
