Details of the Eisteddfod acting competitions, the entry form and special conditions.

112. Short Play - Open

The adjudicators will visit public performances by the registered companies, and will choose 5 companies for the final round.  The final will be held in the Theatre on the Eisteddfod Maes over a number of days in the week.

The acting competitions operate the rules and regulations of Cymdeithas Ddrama Cymru

Preliminary rounds must be held by the end of May 2017.

Prizes:

1. Gwynfor Cup to be held for a year and £500 (John Bryn a Valmai Jones, Y Fali, er cof am eu merch Catrin Prys Jones)
2. £300 (Ken a Nest Jones, Llanddaniel)
3. £200 (Ken a Nest Jones, Llanddaniel)

113. Best Actor in competition 112

Prize:

Bro Dinefwr Cup to be held for a year (Rhoddedig gan Eddie Thomas) and £100 (William Owen, Borth-y-Gest)

 

114. Best Director in competition 112

Prize:

£100 (William Owen, Borth-y-Gest)

 

115. Dialogue Between 2 and 4 in number.  Excerpt of no more than 10 minutes from a play.  Time includes setting and clearing the stage.

Prizes:
1. £150 (William a Nia Lewis, Llangefni)
2. £100 (AddysGar)
3. £50 (Gwen Williams, Fferm Penrhyn, Llanfwrog)

116. Richard Burton Prize for those aged between 16 and 25

8 minutes for the whole presentation, including setting and clearing the stage.

(i) Present one of the following:

Boys: Specific excerpt (Llywelyn) from Thomas Parry’s ‘Llywelyn Fawr’, Cyfrolau Cenedl: Dwy Ddrama, Gol. Dafydd Glyn Jones [Swyddfa’r Eisteddfod]
Girls: Specific excerpt (Siwan) from Thomas Parry’s ‘Llywelyn Fawr’, Cyfrolau Cenedl: Dwy Ddrama, Gol. Dafydd Glyn Jones [Swyddfa’r Eisteddfod]
(ii) Own choice which contrasts with the above.

Prize:

Richard Burton Prize and £500 (Cronfa Gŵyl Ddrama Charles Williams)

117 Monologue for those aged 12 and under 16

Monologue from a suitable play(s).  This can include an excerpt from original or published work.  Five minutes for the whole presentation, including setting and clearing the stage.

Prizes:

1. £75

(8) Presentation in words, dance and song: Glannau (Shores)

At least three elements from the five noted must be included - traditional folk songs, cerdd dant, dance, drama and recitation - to create an imaginative performance.

The presentation should be no longer than 15 minutes, including setting up and clearing the stage.  Movement, costumes and small scale props can be used.

An outline of the script should be sent by 1 July 2017 and a full copy by the Eisteddfod.
