To celebrate the Anglesey 2017 National Eisteddfod of Wales, five special prints are for sale. These images are rare reproductions of work by Edrica Huws (1907 – 1999) who settled in Talwrn with her husband.
Edrica Huws was educated at the Royal College of Art, London and later married Anglesey artist and sculptor Richard Huws. Towards the end of the1950s, having raised their five children, Edrica took up art again. She had been, for some time, interested in needlework rather than brush and paint – this was, after all, the medium by which creative women expressed themselves over the centuries. She insisted that patchwork should be considered a serious art form.
With so few examples of her work represented in public collections, thanks to the family’s generosity, here’s an exceptional opportunity to purchase prints of Edrica Huws’ extraordinary images.
The high quality giclée prints, measuring 50cm x 40cm, are for sale, including mount, for £60 each at Oriel Ynys Môn, Llangefni.
