Saturday 7 July - 15.00
Lawn of Conwy Council Offices, Bodlondeb
Historically, the Eisteddfod has to announce it’s intention to visit at least a year and a day before the start of the festival. The Conwy County National Eisteddfod is to be held on the outskirts of Llanrwst next year from 2 - 10 August, and the proclamation ceremony this year on Saturday, 7 July at Conwy, is a wonderful opportunity to announce this to everyone, both local and nationally.
As part of the activities, a colorful procession is held during the early afternoon (around 14.15), including representatives from schools, local organizations and associations along with Gorsedd of Bards, to welcome the Eisteddfod to the County, and to introduce the County to the Eisteddfod. The procession starts and ends at the lawn of Conwy Council Offices at Bodlondeb, and will parade through the Town. The day's pinnacle will be Proclamation Ceremony itself which will commence at 15.00 using a temporary Gorsedd Stone Circle on the lawn outside the Council Offices.
During the cermeony, the first copy of the Conwy County Eisteddfod Competition Syllabus (list of competitions and information to anyone wishing to compete next year) will be presented to Archdruid Geraint Llifon, who leads this important ceremony from the Chair of the local Executive Committee, Trystan Lewis.
The performance stage at Lancaster Square in the Town will be a great opportunity to enjoy performances by some of the county's secondary schools during the morning as well as singing and dancing sessions with presenters S4C’s Cyw (program to be released mid June).
A number of stewards is required during the day to ensure the smooth and safe running of the event. If you are willing to volunteer for a shift, register here
